Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that’s gained attention in recent years, particularly in the field of trauma therapy. Developed by David Grand in 2003, it’s based on the premise that eye positions correlate with different emotional and physiological states, and by focusing on these “brainspots,” individuals can process and release trauma and other emotional issues more effectively.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms.

Brainspotting gives us a tool… to neurobiologically locate, focus, process, and release experiences and symptoms that are typically out of reach of the conscious mind and its cognitive and language capacity.

Brainspotting works with the deep brain and the body through its direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the body’s central nervous system. Brainspotting is a physiological tool… which has profound psychological, emotional, and physical effects for healing.

Brainspotting can help with:

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or complex trauma

  • Attachment issues stemming from childhood trauma

  • Dissociative disorders

  • Emotion regulation challenges including anger issues

  • Symptoms of depression or sadness

  • Anxiety disorders or phobias

  • Substance use disorders or addiction
